The Development Department advises clients on the potential for development of their land or buildings for the purposes of subsequent disposal or retention as investment property. This involves initial appraisals and preliminary enquiries of relevant authorities. We may recommend to the client other professional services including planning consultants, construction cost consultants, structural engineers, if required. Ashley Smith can assemble the professional team, to be engaged by the client, for the purposes of progressing development.
Recent projects include Durham City Retail Park (with B&Q, Argos and Currys amongst the tenant list) and Broomside Park, Belmont, Durham which includes development of a Whitbread public house / restaurant and travel inn, 7,000m² (75,000 sq ft) indoor soccer centre and BMW/Mini car showroom. Development at Broomside Park is ongoing with potential for over 12,000m² (130,000 sq ft) of offices, leisure and crèche/childrens nursery/day care. We are sensitive to the Local Planning Authority's requirements and policies whilst endeavouring to obtain the best possible returns for the client.
